Healthy Holiday Coffee Drinks for Coffee Lovers

Holiday coffee drinks are flat out delicious. The cool weather and holiday feel lends itself to warm indulgences. However, these holiday coffee drinks can also wreak your had work in the gym, pack over 60g of carbs and over 50g of sugar per drink. Here are some healthier holiday coffee drinks to keep you warm, happy, and fit!

Peppermint Mocha

A Starbucks peppermint mocha, without the whipped cream, 16oz has 360 calories 8g fat, 60g carbs, 52g sugar, and 12g protein.

I enjoy seasonal coffees as much as the next person, but I would rather eat all those carbs than drink them thank you.

So I made my own peppermint mocha and it came out 💣💣💣 so I had to share!

Recipe

  • 1 scoop @optimumnutrition extreme milk chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 3 drops peppermint extract
  • 8 ounces of brewed coffee (decaf or regular)

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!

FOR ICED COFFEE:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender and pour over ice.

Chocolate Almond Cappuccino

A grande white chocolate mocha from Starbucks, without the whipped cream, has a whopping 360 calories, 11g fat, 53g carbs, 51g sugar, and 14g protein.

I don’t know about you, but I would rather eat those carbs in pasta. Chocolate almond might be one of the most delicious holiday pairings. I was going to create a healthier white chocolate mocha, but the chocolate almond one seemed really fun, so here goes!

Recipe

  • 2 scoops @optimumnutrition protein+energy mocha cappuccino
  • 1/2 cup chocolate almond milk
  • 3 drops almond extract
  • 8 ounces brewed coffee

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!

Blend all the ingredients in a blender and pour over ice.

Macros for this chocolate almond cappuccino are: 150 calories, 3g fat, 12g carb, 21g protein. To lower the carbs for this drink, use unsweetened almond milk instead of chocolate almond milk!

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

 

A medium pumpkin spice latte has 340 calories, 9g fat, 52g carbs, and 12g protein. Ugh! This one morning coffee could be the reason that you are struggling to hit your goals!
So what if I told you guys that I had a recipe for a pumpkin spice latte that is HEALTHY, FILLING, and DELICIOUS. This latte is perfect paired with a piece of peanut butter toast! You can also add a tbsp of peanut butter to the shake. Nothing like pumpkin and peanut butter together! 

Recipe

  • 2 scoops @optimumnutrition vanilla latte protein+energy powder
  • 1 tbsp pureed pumpkin (if you really like the pumpkin flavor, use 2 tbsp)
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strong black coffee

FOR ICED COFFEE:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender and pour over ice.

FOR HOT COFFEE:
Heat the almond milk in the microwave for 3 minutes. Blend the warm milk and the rest of the ingredient in a blender and pour into an insulated mug!

Macros for this pumpkin spice latte are: 141 calories, 3g fat, 4g carbs, 21g protein.

Apple Pie Latte

A caramel apple spice from Starbucks, without whipped cream, has 280 calories, 0g fat, 71g carbs, 65g sugar, and 0g protein. 71 grams of carbohydrates in a drink!!! Carbs are certainly not bad for you, but that many carbs in a drink is not a great idea.

Let’s healthified a bit shall we? Plus, this apple pie latte has caffeine, which the caramel apple spice drink unfortunately does not provide 🙂

Recipe

  • 2 scoops @optimumnutrition protein+energy vanilla latte
  • 1 jar apple baby food
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 cup strong black coffee
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick for garnish.

Blend all ingredients, except the cinnamon stick, together and enjoy!

FOR ICED COFFEE:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender and pour over ice.

Red Velvet Mocha

Red Velvet. Those two words send shivers of delight down my spine. Absolutely one of my favorite flavors. A grande red velvet creme drink from Starbucks, without whipped cream, contains 370 calories, 7g fat, 72 carbs, 67g sugar, and 5g protein.

This recipe will give you a power punch from protein and a delicious sipper for any time of the day!

Recipe

  • 1 scoop @optimumnutrition red velvet hydro whey
  • 1/2 cup chocolate almond milk
  • 8 ounces strong black coffee

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!

Macros for the red velvet mocha are: 200 calories, 2g fat, 14g carbs, 10g sugar, 31g protein. You can lower the amount of carbohydrates in this drink by using unsweetened almond milk instead of chocolate almond milk!
